Unnikrishna S. Pillai

Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Polytechnic Institute of NYU, NY USA

Education: Unnikrishna S. Pillai received his B. Tech degree in Electronics Engineering from the Institute of Technology (BHU), India in 1977, the M. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur, India in 1982, and the Ph.D degree in Systems Engineering from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia in 1985.

Accomplishments: From 1978 to 1980 he worked as a radar engineer with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore, India. In 1985 he joined the department of Electrical Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of New York, Brooklyn (currently Polytechnic Institute of NYU) as an Assistant Professor and since 1995 he has been a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Professor Pillai is the author of four textbooks: "Array Signal Processing" (1989), "Spectrum Estimation and System Identification" (S. U. Pillai and Theodore I. Shim, 1993), the fourth edition of "Probability, Random Variables and Stochastic Processes," (A. Papoulis and S. U. Pillai, 2002) and Space Based Radar (S. U. Pillai, Ke Yong Li and B. Himed, 2008). His present research activities include waveform diversity, multi-static radar signal processing, spectrum estimation, system identification, and blind identification.
